In 2018, a mass shooting occurred at Santa Fe High School. Eight students and two teachers were killed, while 13 individuals were injured. Our legal team has brought a civil lawsuit seeking to hold Antonios Pagourtzis and Rose Marie Kosmetatos, the parents of the alleged shooter, Dimitrios Pagourtzis, responsible.
The Civil Lawsuit
Our civil suit alleges that Pagourtzis’ parents knew that he was not mentally stable and posed a danger and that they failed to prevent him from using their guns. We are seeking over $1 million in damages for the victims and their families.
Initially scheduled to begin on May 28th, the civil trial has been rescheduled to begin on July 29th due to the need to obtain certain evidence from the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office and to await a determination as to whether Dimitrios Pagourtzis is competent to be deposed.

The Criminal Case
In addition to his parents facing civil liability, Dimitrios Pagourtzis is being prosecuted by the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. However, the criminal case is on hold indefinitely as Pagourtzis remains in a state hospital and is not mentally competent to stand trial.
While Pagourtzis’ parents have not yet been criminally charged, the plaintiffs seek to hold them civilly liable for their negligent actions. When the civil trial begins on July 29th, victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting and their families will seek to have Pagourtzis’ parents found liable for negligence, gross negligence, and negligent entrustment.
