You can qualify for SIBs if you have an impairment rating of at least 15 percent and did not accept a lump-sum payment for your injury. You must also have not returned to work or have returned in a capacity where you earn less than 80 percent of your average weekly wage.
SIBS generally equal 80 percent of the difference between your average weekly wage prior to getting hurt and the wages you’re capable of earning now.
Lifetime Income Benefits
You may qualify for Lifetime Income Benefits (LIBs) if your workplace injury or illness causes a total and permanent loss of the use of a body part. Ultimately, these benefits are available if you’re unable to return to work in a meaningful capacity because your injuries are so severe.
In Texas, LIBs equal 75 percent of your AWW, subject to a 3 percent increase annually.
